2201 – Band 1: (year) - Choose between Brass or Woodwinds

Beginning Band (Year 1)

Open to all students. No musical training or experience is required. Experience the excitement of learning how to play a new musical instrument!

Playing in band is a great way to learn teamwork, dedication, and creative thinking, while having LOTS of FUN and making GREAT FRIENDS!
Students will learn basic techniques of playing their instrument, note and rhythm reading.
Students will perform in multiple concerts throughout the school year.
Students and their Parent/Guardian may attend Instrument Selection Night to discuss and confirm their choice of instrument for the school year.
Practice at home is expected and required.
Students begin with summer band camp to get them started before school. Summer Band Camp Dates for 2025: July 28th - August 1st and August 4th - August 8th

2206 – Percussion Band: Level 1 (year)

Open to all students. Musical experience recommended. Experience the excitement of learning how to play a new musical instrument!

Playing in band is a great way to learn teamwork, dedication, and creative thinking, while having LOTS of FUN and making GREAT FRIENDS!
Students should already have a basic understanding of note and rhythm reading. They will improve their sightreading and listening skills while combining to rehearse and perform with the Percussion Ensemble.
Students will perform in multiple concerts throughout the school year playing several different percussion instruments.
There is a Instrument Rental Fee to cover the maintenance of other percussion instruments students will use throughout the year.
Students and their Parent/Guardian must attend Instrument Selection Night to discuss and confirm their choice of instrument for the school year.

2405 – Orchestra: Level 1 (year)

Students should have had previous experience with their instrument prior to enrolling (6th grade orchestra or private lessons). Students with no prior experience may enroll, but will need private lessons or extra practice outside of class
You will be developing the skills that will help you to play your instrument at music levels 1-2. You will be performing in several concerts that will include many types of great music
You will improve in performing ability and musicianship
This class will give you a wonderful group experience while you improve your individual performing skills. It is a class where you can create music and develop friendships
Beginning Orchestra includes violin, viola, cello and bass

2301 – Choir (Soprano / Alto) (year)

Choir offers the opportunity to participate in a vocal music program dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in music.
Students will learn the fundamentals of vocal development, healthy vocal use and care, and basic music theory (which leads to musical literacy).
Through the process of becoming comfortable with their individual voice, students will develop the skills and confidence to join their voice with other students.
Choir members find their place as part of a team that is continually striving for excellence. The entire choir will participate in a choir concert once each quarter with the upper level choirs.

2316 – Music Exploration (semester)

Music Exploration is a UNIQUE music class created to give students the opportunity to “EXPLORE” and DISCOVER the power music has in our world and in our individual lives. This class is designed to integrate basic music literacy, music history, the purposes and uses of music in diverse societies, composing music, learning to play instruments and the evolution of music genres like pop, rock and roll, classical, jazz, movies, video games and much more.

Basically, we will do the following:

build our own musical instruments
learn how to read simple music and play on our instruments
explore a variety of musical instruments from around the world
learn about the history of rock and other music students enjoy
discover why movies, video games all have music in them and explore some of this music
listen to great performances and respond

2308 - Musical Theater

In this engaging Musical Theater class, students will explore the dynamic world of performance that combines acting, singing, and dancing if you like. Participants will learn the essentials of musical storytelling, including character development, vocal techniques, and choreography. Through a variety of exercises and rehearsals, students will gain confidence in their abilities while collaborating with peers to create captivating performances. This class encourages creativity, teamwork, and self-expression, culminating in a showcase that highlights the skills and talents developed throughout the course. Join us for an exciting journey into the heart of musical theater!
